A thank you

Happy Wednesday!
Are you having a crafty week?
Sometimes just thinking about crafty things is enough!
But not for me today!
Last night I had a wonderful birthday dinner with hubby, mil, and aunt and uncle.
We had a fabulous cannoli cake after dinner, and there were a few presents too!
Today I made this quick thank you for aunt and uncle.

I used an image from Octopode factory,
A polka dot embossing folder, and a heart die cut for those little hearts!
And of course twine! Ahhh I just love the twine!
Here's a close up of my coloring.
By the way (as I've said before,
Yellow is my favorite color! Ahhhh so sunny and bright!
Plus I just love how it looks with the green!
I hope your getting your craft on tonight!

A manly card

My brother and my birthdays are just 5 days apart...
Growing up that meant joint parties,
And half the presents??
He he, no, I doubt that!
Now we live on opposite sides of the country, and only get to see each other
Every few years.
Today I made him a birthday card.
I don't do many men's cards, but this one was fun!
Plus I got to use my new "old jalopy" die from Tim holtz
I know it's a die that's been around for a while,
But it's new to me for sure!
I think maybe ill be doing more manly cards in the future!
I'm sure he's not reading this post, but happy birthday Russ!

ATC

Today I have an ATC to share with you all!
There are a couple of challenges that I really enjoy entering on a weekly or bi weekly basis
Wicked Wednesday atc is one of those challenges!
My life has been so hectic for the last month that I haven't gotten to play!
Today I remedied that!
Yeah!
I embossed some Kraft resist with my cool clock embossing folder
Then ran some black staz-on over the clock so we could see it.

To challenge myself even more I'm wanted to try to use the sketch at the new
Unity stamp challenge which also is where the red and turquoise came from.
Soooo the stamp of the ticket and the believe are both from unity stamps.

Hope you're having a crafty Monday! Happy Presidents' Day to all my US friends!

Advice needed

Hey all!  I'm back from my fabulous week with mom and dad!
We did a lot of relaxing, and a lot of running around!  he he he
But mom and I got to do some crafting,
I helped her make some cards to send out, and some for a little bit of a stash.

So.... I bet you're wondering what I need advice on???
Here's the deal after making about 10 cards this week with mom
she turned to me and said... "I'd really like to do this at home".... "what would I need to get started?"
That my dear bloggy friends is where you all come into the picture....(Well you are always here but...)
If you were just starting out in your crafty adventure, and had very very limited supplies,
what would be the most important tools you would add to your arsenal??
Please keep in mind that mom is going to be doing mostly card making!

I know for me, my basics would of course be a stack or two of paper, and my bumblebee scissors.
I'm going to visit mom and my sister in Florida in April, and mom wants to go shopping for some supplies.
So any advice is appreciated!
Thanks all!

Love

Happy valentines day!
Today I'm sharing this cute card that my mom made for my dad!
They have been with us here in Arizona since Saturday, and we got to
Celebrate their 41st anniversary with them!
Mom and I have been doing some crafting,
And mom just loves those fabulous saturated canary images.
I let her color up this super cute image, and she created the card almost exclusively without my help!
This is really a move in the right direction, and it's fun to see her become
More confident in her abilities!

I'm sharing this card for the brand spankin new Love challenge at
The saturated canary challenge blog!
Hope you enjoy!
And bravo mom!

Love to Create Challenge: Guest Designer

How Excited am I????
I'm soooooo excited!!!!  (I sound like the Pointer Sisters!)
But really, I'm super excited, because I've been picked as a guest designer over at
I mean how lucky am I??
This week their challenge is "feel the love"
And I've used a fabulous digi from
Sassy Studio Designs called Steampunk Josephine
The best part is you could win your own digi if you play along!

I think I'll give this beauty to hubs for Valentines Day!
I'm sure he'll get a kick out of it!

Anything but a card: ahhh the love

It's currently Saturday morning as I'm writing this...
I just realized that I never posted my creation for the
Anything but a Card DT from last Sunday!
Shame on me!
So here is my creation.... It's an altered book cover.
I picked the book up on the cheap at the local good will,
cut the pages out of it, and went to work with some paint and stuff..
The letters are grunge board that I painted, and then glittered up
the heart was cut out of some scrap paper,
and then painted with white picket fence crackle paint.
that was lined with blue glitter glue.
I tried to take a close up pic of the heart, but it turned out all fuzzy!
then for the inside (sorry again no pic) I added the Tim Holtz large Ring binder
on the inside so I can add my own pages and such.
Please hop on over to anything but a card and play along with this 2 week's challenge...
LOVE!!!

Red and white valentine

I just have a few valentines left to make...
We'll see if they get done as mom and dad got in today.
Tomorrow (Sunday) we are going to a Chocolate Festival that's put on by the city that I work for.
Oooooh don't get me started on the fabulous chocolate covered cheesecake!!!
And I hear that the chocolate covered key lime pie is to die for...

Oh yeah, back to the card!
So I had colored this pretty girl up last week with the intention of playing along with the
Dilly Beans "Things with Wings" challenge,
but alas, I never got around to it..
Lo an behold, this week's challenge is Hearts
How lucky am i??
Ok, ok, so remember just like yesterday or the day before when I tried out a sketch??
Today I tried another one...
I'm not as happy with the results of this one, but I did make this card on the fly
as I should have been in my car on the way to the airport...
So I found the sketch at Tuesday Morning Sketches
Do you like??
Ok, just a little bit of a forwarning, I have some of my posts prescheduled for this week
since mom and dad are here.
Hopefully me and mom will be in the studio, as she wants to make a bunch of cards to take back with her!

Valentine hearts

Back for more??
I made this quick and simple heart card in ohhhh 8 minutes and 12 seconds...
Probably would have been faster if I'd had a pink card... but I had to ink the card itself up!
The hearts were die cut using my big kick, and are just scraps that I've had sitting around for a while
The background was inked with Broken China and Peeled Paint distress inks, and the
words were stamped using Tea Dye Distress ink.
The sentiment is from a very very old vellium pack, and was attached with brads.
I'm a bit of a sucker for non traditional valentine colors for a valentine!

Another Smash page Featuring Angie Delarie Digi

Ok ok ok, so this was a fun one!
And my second offerring featuring one of the two new Angie Delarie digi's
you can find them in her etsy shop here
There is a fun story behind this pic of hubby
See a while back I cut myself some bangs...
And like any new owner of bangs would do, I left that little strip of hair
sitting on the bathroom counter while I admired my new do!
Lo and behold, a few minutes later
out comes hubby with that strip of hair "taped" to his lip
Yep, he's a ham!
And also, this was my attempt at doing a clean and simple smash page...
Hey, all I can say is I tried!!!
I hope you like these new digi's that miss Angie is putting out!!
I think they are way cool, and perfect for any last minute Valentines projects that you might have!
And the best part is you don't have to wait for shipping!!!
So hop on over and swoop you up some of these beauts!

Gray and yellow with a sketch

Yep, another valentine!
I'm on a roll!
Today's card is an untraditional valentine...
Both in its gray and yellow color, and it's zombie image..

The yellow and gray is for the challenge at Cupcake Crafts Challenge,
And plus yellow is my favorite color... Which happens to be the challenge at Oozak
Plus another sketch!
I know I'm shocked as well!
That's for the challenge at Sketchy fridays which I think I need to use much more!

Here's a close up of my zombie from saturated canary,
Don't you love the dotty shading in the background?
Designed to color has been featuring this all week, and I figured I'd give it a go!
Also linking up to the black, white plus one challenge at Crafty Creations!
Hope you enjoy!
Oh, and if you can't read the sentiment, it reads
"I like you more than a zombie loves brains"
He he he it makes me laugh!

Squared valentine

I know I'm geting a late start on valentines, but it's been very nice to be back in the studio a little bit!
I love the pink and red valentines!
I made the background paper using barn door and victorian velvet distress inks,
and then stamped with tea die distress ink using my Unity Stamp chicken coop stamp
(I just adore that stamp!!)
Soooo I am usually confused by sketches, but when I saw the sketch challenge over at
Our Creative Corner I thought "I can do that!"
So I did...
And as the multiple squares lent itself to lots of embelishments I decided to try to
incorporate the challenge at Desert Islands Crafts where I used numbers 1,2,3,4,5,6,8, and 9!!
Wow!! but ti was fun!
Also linking up to the Anything Goes challenges at Tuesday Alchemy, Bearly Mine Challenges
and Flutterby Wednesdays (must use a butterfly or fairy)
Finally I'm linking up to the Monochrome Challenge at Anything Goes Challenges

Angie delarie DT

Hello!
I'm sooooo excited to share my first DT post for Angie Delarie Products
Miss Angie has a couple of new digi's in her Etsy Shop.
So I have been on a bit of a Smash craze lately,
and I figured I'd just stick with it a bit longer!
I came across this fab pic of me and hubby when we were going through
all our pics the other night!
It's from my good friend Jenny's wedding!
And oh the strips of photo negatives I found!  I may have simply died and gone to heaven!
Doesn't this super cute new digi fit right along with this page??
Here is the flip side of the page.
I am simply in love with these wood veneers, and the flowers were stamped,
and then assembled.
Those little chipboard thingies (yes, very technical)
have possibly been in my stash longer than anything else!!
But they were perfecto!
Here it is all together! Oh, and Mary look, I used my flatback button!
Thank you so much!
Hope you're all having a fabulous day!

Valentine for a friend

I'd like to say this was a quick card...
But it wasn't!
Maybe cause I haven't been in the studio for a while.
I definitely do not want to go so long without creating!
So this cheery card started a couple weeks back when I was showing my friend Mel
What paper piecing is! She's not a paper crafter, but she did pick out the papers I used...
I just love the boots and skirt papers...
From the basic grey fact and fiction line of papers...

I was super excited when I saw that the new challenge at Saturated canary challenge
Was a color challenge I knew this little girl would be perfect! Plus her colors already matched!
Fate I say!
So I paired up some more of my basic grey fact and fiction papers to create this fun card!
Plus of course I made my own embellies!
That's the challenge at Craft room challenges
Also linking up with Cut it up challenges love is in the air challenge!
Over at a Blog Named Hero they are having a Paper Piecing challenge that I'm entering this into.
